PA Giving Day 2020

Tuesday 08 September 2020

A Hospital patients will benefit from $653,000 raised by the PA Research Foundation through their second PA Giving Day, We're all 4 the Heroes, on Thursday 3 September. The We're all 4 the Heroes campaign aimed to raise $600,000 for medical research, patient support initiatives, staff education and specialist equipment to thank the healthcare heroes of the PA Hospital, and reached its fundraising target by 7pm before achieving its bonus goal of $650,000 by 11pm.

This year's PA Giving Day moved to a virtual format to ensure all 63 teams and individuals who participated could remain COVID safe while calling their networks, family, and friends to raise funds.

With the PA Campus also home to the Translational Research Institute (TRI), team participants ranged from researchers to clinicians, nurses, allied health staff, and volunteers who all manned the phones to ask their network and loved ones to donate directly to their work and their patients.

PA Research Foundation Chief Executive Officer Damian Topp said he was humbled by the way the wider PA Community came together to make the day a success.

"We have an amazing, tight-knit community of friends, family and supporters here at the PA campus, who are both as passionate about their work as they are on improving outcomes for their patients, it was great to see them all so enthusiastic about raising funds for their departments and their research work," he said.

"This result wouldn't have happened without our generous matching donors, who I honestly can't thank enough, their generosity and altruism will help ensure present and future generations of Queenslanders will continue to benefit from the exceptional care the PA is renowned for.

"I also want to acknowledge the valued support of our corporate supporters including Port of Brisbane and In Vitro Technologies, who also contributed by both raising funds and making significant gifts to the campaign.

The outstanding result was achieved through more than 1000 individual donors with donations ranging from as small as just $3 to as big as $10,000 with the average gift being $160.
